and character, the inn is inside the picturesque peak district national park and ideally placed for country strolls, cycling or more challenging hikes up nearby kinder scout. it boasts an award-winning chef with an international reputation and has been recommended in the good pub guide for the past ten years for the quality of its hand-pulled real ales. bar and restaurant the bar our bar has a warm and intimate atmosphere and serves tasty homemade pub food. real ale is always available. check us out in either the 2009 – 2018 good beer guides, we are one of only two pubs in the area privileged enough to have an entry. it is our policy to always have a minimum of two cask conditioned ales available as well as a good selection of lagers, ciders and guinness, a well balanced wine menu, a well stocked spirit shelf complemented with a whole host of fruit drinks, mixers and other non-alcoholic thirst quenchers. however, if it’s just a nice cuppa you want we also serve traditional english tea, this in addition to some not so traditional teas from around the world. we can also offer you a cup of freshly ground kenco fairtrade coffee served as either an americano, au lait, macchiato, cappuccino, black or espresso, or a liqueur coffee of your choice. the restaurant the vast majority of our dishes, including our soups, sauces, desserts and potato dishes are homemade using fresh ingredients. we do not buy frozen pre-made products, people tell us they can taste the difference. likewise, our fish ~ it comes direct from grimsby docks to here. we select and purchase top quality iced fish and leave our chefs to prepare them and enhance with a sauce or two where appropriate. our commitment to you the customer, whether you eat fish or meat, savoury or vegetarian, soup or salad, the basics remain the same, it will be made using the freshest of ingredients and prepared in our own kitchens. over 95% of all foodstuffs are prepared this way. accommodation accommodation of mid-18th century architectural design, no two rooms are the same and vary in size and character… nevertheless, all visitors staying at the lantern pike inn will be delighted at the twin room is called the lantern pike, this room takes it name from the hill at the back of the pub. the lantern pike hill was historically used as a beacon for communication in bygone days, today it’s just a great hill to walk up and take in the breath-taking views. the lantern pike room is larger than our compact twin room and is located at the front of the building with the benefit of double the third highest point in the peak district. black hill is more compact than our classic twin room, however, black hill benefits from being located at the back of the building with a great view of daddy of the hills in the peak district. this room is the largest room in the house and has the benefit of a dressed four poster bed and additional seating. it has an en-suite shower-over-bath set in the largest bathroom in the house. our romantic weekends package for kinder scout has proved very popular where we have a choice of flowers, champagne and chocolates in the room on your arrival.
